You might not have known
The Grass Roots "Let's Live For Today"
-This is an English version of the Italian hit "Piangi Con Me."
-This was written by Doc Pomus (born Jerome Solon Felder) and Mort Shuman. Pomus and Shuman were born in Brooklyn, USA. Pomus lived in New York City (with a short trip to London in 1959) and Shuman lived there until late into the '60s when he slowly (over the course of a year and a half) moved to France. He spent the remainder of his life there and in Europe
-The "Sha-la-la" chorus is very similar to The Drifters' hit "I Count the Tears," which Pomus and Shuman wrote. Pomus was upset about the obvious similarity, and even though lawyers called him to suggest that he should sue, he did not. The main reason was because he was not that kind of person. If you were a thief and stole from him, as long as he could still support himself and his family (and no one was physically injured of course) he would let it go. He felt that you'd get what you deserved in the end. The other reason was that at the time the song was released he was under contract with Hill & Range (later to become Warner/Chappell) and they would have had the authority to sue and not him.
THE GRASS ROOTS - Let's Live For Today-1968 (The song was actually released in 1967)
The Rokes - PIANGI CON ME-1966
The Drifters - I Count The Tears-1960

TONIGHT
This Saturday June 14th, 2008 EXIT PHILADELPHIA will be throwing it's 2nd Annual "Deck Heads" art show. 50+ artist have come together to show artwork on actual skateboard decks. Some are painted, some are sculpted, some are beautiful some are down right GNARLY, but in the end it is all for a good cause.
We have joined forces with The Franklin's Paine Skatepark Fund a Philadelphia based non-profit organization raising money for a skatepark in Philadelphia along the Schuylkill river.
Deck Heads 2 will be showing at Amble Gallery Starting on Saturday June 14th. We will
be throwing a HUGE opening reception with music, food, beer, and followed by an after party right down the street at the Good OL' 700 Club.
Deck Heads will be showing at Amble throughout the entire month of June, so even if you miss the opening you can still drop by, and check out the works!

The Hoff
I was in my car listening to the oldies, when this song comes on and i immediately think of David Hasselhoff's version and just start cracking up to myself in my car. i probably looked like a mad man.
in case you've never seen it... here ya go. it's intense!
*i originally was gonna put up a picture of i photoshopped of Steve Miller's head on that picture of Hasselhoff with the dogs (because he's the one that showed me that video), but i can't find it and it just threw my whole post off

I call these guys my friends
Steve is into some weird shit
\
He even gave birth to me one night while doing a keg stand
I thought that was really nice of him, so i decided i'd pay him back and give birth to him while standing on an iron horse. He seems happy
I don't know if anybody I know ever watches Larry King, but one night i was just flipping through the channels and this caught my eye. I had no idea about any of this.
I don't know what Chachi does on his own time, but we caught him one night

Kracked
Dino Jr.
this is from Aug 2006 when me and Whitey drove up to Lancaster to see them. The next night, all their equipment got stolen in NY. This was the second to last show that they played with this equipment, including J's old Jazzmasters. Fucking sucks!

My pirate name is:
Iron Sam Kidd
A pirate's life isn't easy; it takes a tough person. That's okay with you, though, since you a tough person. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

Speechless
Holy fuck, this makes me embarrassed to be a skateboarder! Sheckler said before, "I don't know how i'm making skateboarding look bad." Well dude, this is it right here, the nail in the coffin. It's crazy, somebody ACTUALLY topped Andy McDonald in the "I'm gonna make skateboarding look as cheesy as I can" category
i mean, i'll throw some water and some hand soap on my face if i'm not completely wasted before i go to sleep because i don't know one person who actually wants to look like THIS... but he's taking it to another level.
The hatred towards him is getting pretty intense. They're now making websites dedicated to hating on him

here's some real skateboarding, no bullshit
and this is just classic
